Luminara is a fieldhouse project located in Manhattan, KS that is inspired by the interplay of light and architecture, designed to embody the reflection of light rays as they travel through the building's form. At its core is a butterfly roof, which not only creates a striking profile but also directs natural light into the interior. A central skylight strategically illuminates the gymnasium court below, emphasizing light's role in shaping the spatial experience. The project integrates a harmonious relationship between public and private spaces, including community rooms, public seating areas, and circulation paths.

By responding to solar orientation, the design maximizes daylighting while minimizing energy usage, aligning with sustainable principles. The architecture reflects the surrounding landscape, blending soft, sloping forms with dynamic spatial transitions. Luminara is a celebration of light as an architectural element, fostering an environment that is both functional and uplifting for the community it serves.
